Just popping in to say ........................

......... if I am not here that often over the next 6 weeks or so please don't think that I have disappeared or given up.

I am getting married in April & at the moment I am busy with floral decorations & cake decorations - so rubber stamping & other kinds of stamping are beginning to take a bit of a back seat.

But when I can find a few moments - or long enough moments - to make something I will be here.  I will from time to time put up some news of the wedding preparations which I hope you will find interesting.

This week, after staring at my collection of silk flowers I finally decided how I wanted them to look & the main table centre is best part finished.  There are quite a few small floral decorations to be made after that.  Then also the bases for the sugar paste roses for the cake have been made & I should start making those over the next few days.

So I am busy - just not with cards very much.

Please pop back from time to time & keep in touch.

Two cards

Having recently done some tidying up of my craft desk & some boxes stored beneath it I found bits & pieces that should really be used up.

So today I made 2 cards in my "Use It Up" session - which I do every so often & one was long overdue.

This card "uses up" the strip of paper which is just one amongst quite a few in a box.  The card I used was cream & the paper strip was basically white so I coloured it with Tatter Rose Distress Ink which went quite well with the pinkish coloured pattern on it. The image is one of my favourite ones & I simply stamped it in black archive ink then coloured with the same Distress Ink.

This "use it up" features some Encaustic Wax work that I did quite some time ago that I over stamped with little silhouette seahorses.  I used an off cut to stamp the greeting & layered the sections onto black card.

Hmm! I think it is time to get the encaustic wax things out again.,  But perhaps not before I have "used up" the other pieces that were in the box with this one.

Show Us Your Twinchies - Love is in the Air

I suppose with it being February & Valentines Day very near many of the challenges are likely to have this theme.

So over at Show Us Your Twinchies the theme is Love Is In The Air.  How do I get that on to a piece of card measuring 2" x 2".  Well, we will see.

Here is my offering.

I usually photograph it with a ruler below it so you can see it is the right size - but I forgot today - but it is 2" x 2" honestly.  I found the word Love on one of my many CD's from My Craft Studio & of course in true organised style I forgot to make a note of which one.  I started to look again for it - but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I chose some pink background paper from the CD, then layered the word onto it - I then printed an extra word for cutting out.  I decided that to do every letter 3-d might be a bit too much so I just did the L & the V. Some little flat back pearls added a bit of bling.

Thank you for taking a peek at my little blog I hope you find it interesting.  Please leave a comment if you have time, & why not pop over to the challenge blog & see the great things being made on this small canvas.

Less is More - One Layer - Music

It is time for me to enter the challenge over at Less Is More where the challenge this week is a one layer card with a music theme.

Here is my card

I used 2 stamps from a set by Chocolate Baroque called Music Fanfare.  I loved the look of these images when I saw them & just had to buy the set.  As always it has taken me a while to get around to using them out.  Now that I have I can't wait to make some more cards & to use some of the other stamps in the set.

First I stamped the violin image on thin paper for a mask. I then inked the stamp using Black Archival Ink & stamped on the card. Putting the mask in place I then stamped the music image over it using the same ink.

When I come to use the card I will add an appropriate sentiment on the front.  Or I may not.

Thank you for visiting my little blog space I hope you fond it interesting.  If you have time before you go please leave a comment - or just say hello.l  It is always nice to know visitors have called.

Two more cards .... last for this week

Well! I appear to have made it to Friday with a week of making cards.  Great!

Here are the 2 cards for today;

I had this Friend stamp along with 3 friend sayings as a club Christmas present & we have been asked to make a card using the stamps that we received.  This was my first attempt & it hasn't turned out as I envisaged.  But it is still nice in a strange way.  I chose the leaf stamp from another set & stamped them down both sides of a piece of white card in Versamark then embossed in Clear EP.  I then used the same method for the wording.  I trimmed the edges to fit the base card & coloured over the stamping with 2 shades of Green Pan Pastels.  The photo doesn't do the colour justice.  I then mounted it onto the dark green base card.

This is my second attempt & will be the one I take to the club.  Again the photo does not show the colour - because the spotty paper is a bottle green.  The flower image comes from a freebie set, & the word Friend & the different saying are from the Friend set.  The image, words & little floral banner were all stamped in black archival ink which I quickly covered with clear EP & heat embossed.  The flower I coloured with watercolour pencils & a water brush.

Thank you for stopping by my little blog space & I hope you will call again.  If you have time before you go perhaps you would leave a little comment?

Another 2 cards

Yes! I have managed to make another 2 cards today - I am really pleased.  It may not be a lot but I have got myself back in the swing again.  Next week I think I might try making some that are a little more creative. But before that there will be tomorrow to make 2 or possibly even 3 more.

In the meantime here are today's 2 cards;

A really bright spring colour.

Back to my favourite colour.

Like so many of my stamps I cannot remember exactly what make it is.  It is a Papermania set or a freebie set from a magazine.  There is a smaller versions of it in the set as well.

Both designs were stamped with black archival ink & I quickly put clear EP over the image & heat embossed them.  They were then coloured in with water colour pencils using my favourite - the water brush.  I then die cut it with one of the Spellbinder labels dies & mounted it on the spotty paper.  To "anchor" the image to the white card I added a bow at the base.  Unfortunately I didn't have any yellow ribbon so that card had to have a green bow.

Thank you for visiting my little blog space I hope you will pop back again - perhaps tomorrow to see how I will make the next 2 cards!

If you have time perhaps you would leave a comment before you go.  Thank you.

another 2 cards

Today I have managed to add 2 more cards to my collection of quick, clean & easy cards.  I am trying to build up a selection of these leaving out the sentiment or greeting which will be added when I know how I am sending the card to & for what reason.  Also I am often asked by others to make a card for them & generally they tend to request CAS cards.  Although of course quite often they need to be made specifically because of something special that is needed to be on them.  Then, also I do donate some of my cards for fund raising - so the more CAS they are the more likely they are to sell & raise money.

So that is my task at the moment & here are the 2 I made today;

A lovely white square scallop edged card with a white strip of card & a butterfly.  I cut around the right hand side of the butterfly so that it is raised slightly from the card.  I then layered that onto a piece of dark blue card which I trimmed with some fancy edge scissors I have.  These can best be described as scalloped postage stamp edged scissors.  They actually went well with the shape of the card.  When I had put it all together there was just a bit too much white space even for me - so I stamped another butterfly directly onto the card in the opposite corner.  There is space alongside the butterfly on the white strip for the sentiment.

This is a green version.  I wondered if I would every used that piece of green card - not my usual shade of green.  Then I noticed that one of my Kaleidoscope Ink pads had just the right shade of green ink in it.

Wonder what design I can make tomorrow?

Thank you for stopping by - if you have time please leave a comment before moving on.

some more cards

Well! after some car problems that had to be sorted this morning, I managed to sit down & make a couple of cards.  I had hoped to make more - but hey there is also that dreaded word "h-work" - so dreaded I can't even type it in full!  He he

Here are the 2 cards I made in my crafting session;

I am following a similar idea to the cards I made yesterday.
I made a panel by stamping the butterfly in Versamark & embossing it in Clear EP.
I then searched out a lilac shade of Brilliance pigment ink pad & coloured over the top of the butterflies.
Then I stamped the butterfly on its own in the same ink.
I added some flat backed gems to add a bit of bling

A slightly different colour on this card but the same technique.
I stamped a second butterfly which I cut out & placed above the one on the circle.

After I had created the various elements I sat & thought how I would put it all together.
I chose some black card.
Onto this I layered the panels & punched out 2 oval scalloped shapes to lay the focal image on, purely because I don't have a slightly larger circle punch.

At first I wasn't sure about the black - but I quite like it.  Once again I have not added sentiments / greetings or put inserts inside.  Those will be added when I know who I am giving them to.

I realised after making these that I was not using my various die cut frames which of course would give me graded sizes.  Duh! I think brain deadened by "h-work".

Thank you for stopping by my little blog space - please, if you have time, leave a comment or just say hello so I know you have visited.

One stamp 3 cards

Today I gave myself a spot in the day to have a stamping session.

I had decided to go down the one stamp one colour design to make some clean & simple cards.

The stamp I chose was out of a freebie set from a magazine last year & the ink I chose was the Distress Ink Stormy Sky.  The only other things I needed were Versamark Ink, Clear embossing powder & white card.

Here are the 3 cards I made;

A strip of white card with the image repeated 3 times stamped in Versamark & embossed with clear EP,
then inked with Stormy Sky
The focal image is just stamped with Stormy Sky & embossed with Clear EP & punched out with a scallop circle punch.

this card created in the same way - layout different

This time I stamped the image in Stormy Sky on a strip of white card then cut it into 2 half-inch strips.
I layered them on to white card that had been coloured with Stormy Sky .  The focal image I stamped with Versamark & embossed with Clear EP, then punched it out with a scalloped circle punch & coloured with Stormy Sky.

I haven't put a sentiment or greeting on the front or an insert inside.  They will be put on & in the card when I know who the card is for.

A good session & tomorrow I am going to pick another stamp & another colour & make some more.

Thank you for popping in to my little blog space I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Please call again & perhaps before you leave you might write a comment or just say hello?

Two birthday cards

Here we are in February with me & my mind still in January - which today I realised gave me a problem.

My stepdaughter has a birthday on the 12th, & she lives in the States. It was a good thing it had crossed my mind today as her Dad is going to be away for a few days & wouldn't have been in a position to purchase a card.  So I set too this afternoon to make two cards.

Here is the card for her dad to send;

The background paper was whiter than it appears in the photo.  I edged it with some purple ink to make it stand out from the white card.  I cut the spotty paper & placed it bottom right to which I added the frame with the lady inset - both of which were put on sticky pads to raise them above the paper.  The "daughter" was layered onto matching spotty paper.  The stamps are from a freebie set last year with Creative Stamping magazine.

The next card is the one I made for her from me;

I embossed a piece of white card with a new embossing folder that had this lovely plain oval in the centre.  After embossing it I found that the oval had partially cut through so I removed it totally.  After stamping on it - with another stamp from the same set as above - I placed it on sticky pads back in its original place to make it stand out more.

So!  cards made - first thing tomorrow morning need to get to the post office.

Thank you for visiting my little blog - please leave a comment or say hello.
