Stamptacular Sunday - #200 - Spots & Stripes

A good day today with a second challenge being entered.  This time it is the one at Stamptacular Sunday where the theme is Spots & Stripes.

Here is my card then I will talk about it

The base card is a 6x4 deckle-edged white card.  I found 2 rather nice paper scraps that were almost the same colour which then of course defined the rest of the colour of the card.  I am very much into monochrome designs at the moment so a poke around amongst my ink pads found a burgundy ink that went well with the papers.  I love these stamps which are from a set that was free with Creative Stamping magazine last year.

The frame & lady I stamped in the burgundy ink & embossed it with clear EP. Then I used the ink & a water brush to colour the lady's collar & hat.  I glued the 2 papers together overlapping them a little & then inked the edges.  I didn't like the join so coloured some white satin ribbon with the ink pad laid it over the join wrapping it round the back of the papers.  After fixing the background papers to the base card I added the frame & the lady onto the background with sticky pads & finally added some gems to the ribbon.

When I know who I am going to give this card to & for what reason I will add a sentiment in the lower section.

Thank you for stopping by my little blog I hope you enjoyed your visit & that you will call again.  If you have time perhaps you would leave a comment?

Less Is More - Week 104 - sketch #8

The challenge this week at Less Is More is a sketch & as it is a very minimal design our cards have to be exactly as the sketch with the band to be no more than one-third of the card & to remain in the lower half of the card.

Here is the sketch

& here is my take on the sketch

My base is a white standard size card (6x4) & I then took a piece of white card that size & embossed it.  Then I trimmed the edge with a deckle-edged blade to compliment the base card & cut off a small section at the bottom.

The little stamp I used is from a set of square stamps this size - about 1" - great for inchies.  I inked it with royal blue ink & stamped one image then re-stamped without re-inking just slightly overlapping the edge so that there is a definite line.  I then repeated this alternating the dark & light blue.  This strip was then trimmed to size to match the embossed sheet & cut with deckle-edged scissors also.  As I laid it out for checking the fit I didn't like the really really white background it was a bit too clinical.  So I dusted the embossed sections with blue chalk putting more in some areas creating an almost marble effect.  It needed a little more & I found some little paper roses which I only had in cream - so I painted them with a water brush & watercolour pencil in the same shade of blue.

When this is eventually given to someone I will add a sentiment in the top section - but for the challenge this was enough.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit & that you will call again.  A comment would be appreciated if you have time.

just dropping in to say.....

.... hello & to let you know I am still here.  It has been 4 days since my last post  & I have to own up to the fact that I have been doing rather a lot of digital work the last few days - so sorry stampers.

Also I have been having a really good New Year clear out.  I have things in my craft room (& elsewhere I hasten to add - spilling out around the house) - that have not been used in ages.  Some even not at all.  So a sort out needed - it is really a continuation of one I started in 2012 & never really finished.

Also in April, my man & I are finally tying the knot after many years together & so I am fairly busy with the preparations for that. I really should look out the photos of our "save the date" & "invitations" & put them here as there is some rubber stamping on them.

I have started my cake - it is sitting in a very nice cake keeper box marinating at the moment.  I gave it its final drink of brandy today - it smells delicious - & here it is.

In about 2 weeks it will be marzipan time, & shortly I will be making the flowers for it.  So stamping is taking a slight back seat at the moment, although I do hope to find time to enter a few challenges as they come along.

I hope everyone survived the snowy weather if you had it & now we must start looking forward to spring.

Thank you for stopping by please call again.

Less Is More - Week103 - Friends

What a nice theme on the Less Is More Challenge blog this week - Friends.

I have some nice friend sentiments stamps & actually had some more for Christmas - as I have quite a choice I thought I would just use a sentiment.

Here is my card

& here a close up of the sentiment

I have used a white square card & a white tag.  The tag has been coloured with Pan Pastels in 2 shades of green & an orange.  I then stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink & dabbed the darker green pastel over it.  To lift the square card I went around the edges with the pale green pastel then stamped the tiny flowers in the corner with Versamark & going over them again with the pale green pastel.  The tag has been placed on foam pads to lift it from the surface & has a square mini brad through the top slot - but it doesn't go through the card underneath.

Thank you for visiting my blog I hope you found it interesting.  Before you go please leave a comment or just say hello.  It is always nice to know people have been here.

Show us your Twinchies - Anything Goes

Time to make another Twinchie & the theme is "Anything Goes".  I sometimes find that harder than being given a theme.  The challenge is at "Show Us Your Twinchies" challenge blog.

Here is my Twinchie

with the ruler beneath it to show the 2" size & here are the pictures of the stamps I used

Yes! they really are that small - a whole set in 1.5"

I coloured the square of card with Crushed Olive Distress Ink & deliberately didn't get a smooth finish as I wanted a sort of textured look to it.  The images were then simply stamped with Black Archival Ink.

Thank you for taking a look at my little blog space I hope you enjoyed your visit & will call again. Before you go please leave a comment - or - just say hello.

If you have this snow & cold weather where you are - please wrap up warm & keep safe.

just popping in ......

............ to say hello & hope that you are all taking care in this very cold weather.

I hope you are all wrapped up warm & being very careful when you have to go out in it.

It seems to me that this is the best sort of weekend to turn the heater on in the craft room & make some cards.  But listen to me as I am hoping to go to the cinema tomorrow (Saturday) to see "Les Miserables" & keeping fingers crossed that the weather won't actually stop me.

Less is More - week 102 - sports or exercise

This week over at Less Is More challenge blog the theme is a one layer card (OLC) on "sports or exercise". This gave me the chance to use a set of stamps I bought last year - I think they are from Papermania.  As usual I no longer have the packaging.

I stamped the little footballer & sentiment in black archive ink & embossed with clear EP.  Then coloured him with my watercolour pencils & trusty water brush. Before finishing I brushed a very light coat of green watercolour under the sentiment & his feet to ground the image.

Why not pop over to the website & have a look at all the other entries - they do get lots of beautiful cards.

Than you for dropping in & looking at my little blog space I hope you will call again.  Please leave a comment before you go - or just say hello.

catching up

Good heavens nearly a week since my last post.

I am a little slow at creating some rubber stamped cards & items this year.  Mainly because I have to tidy my craft room before I can really sit down & do some work.

I have had 2 cards to make today though -  sadly sympathy cards.  One is from me personally & the other on behalf of a group.

Each has a different insert based on personal & group sending them.  I hate commercial sympathy cards as the words never say what is appropriate.  Both these cards are similar in style but inside is very personal as to whom was sending the card.

Such a sad start to 2013 - I am hoping for happier times ahead.

In fact I have happier times ahead as my man & I who have been together for a long time are finally tying the knot this year - in April - so much to look forward to & it will be very much documented here.

I also made a card for a challenge blog today  - a CD challenge - from the 1st January any digital work I do which includes that through CD's is now being featured on my digital blog.  If you wish to read more about this card..............

............. then click on the link above.

Thank you for visiting my blog I hope you enjoyed your stay.  Before you go perhaps you would leave a comment or a little message - even if it is just "hello" & I hope you will come back again for another visit.

**** Special Announcement ****

If you have already read this message - just page down to find the up to date postings

Good morning!
and
a Happy New Year to you all
Today sees the start of my new blog - my other blog - to showcase my digital craft work.
"Ink on my fingers?" is my showcase blog for my rubber stamping - & my digital crafting had started to crowd out the rubber stamping. So creating this second blog will keep the two elements separate This means if you have arrived here expecting rubber stamping then that is what you will see.
If you are curious about my digital crafting then click here - or select the tab at the top of the page.
Thank you.

I am going to leave this post at the top of the blog for a week.

Two cards for the coming Year

My stock of ready stamped cards needs replenishing.   I like to have some on standby for unexpected events.  So I thought today I would start with some CAS designs & not put sentiments on them so that the suitable one can be added before sending.

Both cards have the same image which is from an Art Deco set that was free on a magazine last year.

I scored a frame around the four sides of the cards & this is clearer in the second card.  The top card has the image stamped in Adirondack Denim ink & the colour on the flowers pulled through with a water brush. The second card has the image stamped in Versafine Imperial Purple ink - but in the photo it looks almost black.  I used another purple ink pad to add the colour to the flowers as the Versafine inks dry quickly & cannot be pulled through with water.

Tomorrow I am going to do something suitable for cards for men.

Thank you for popping into my little blog space I hope you enjoyed your visit & that you will visit again.  Please leave a comment or just say hello.

A little winner!

I have just found out that I am a winner over at "Show us your Twinchies" with my twinchie easel card in their "Let it Snow" challenge.

What a great start to my blogging in 2013.

A birthday card

Time to show you my most recent rubber stamped birthday card.  It was created just before Christmas & I hadn't got around to writing a post about it.

The base is a large scalloped white card onto which I have layered a square piece of white card, which in turn I have layered onto a piece of card that has had the edges coloured with the same ink as the stamped images.  The corner images are from a free set that came with a magazine earlier last year, as did the single rose.  Sadly I cannot remember where I got the sentiment from - I stamped that black archival ink.

The floral images were stamped in a bronze-gold ink & embossed with clear EP.  I ran the ink pad around the edge of the layer card & also embossed with clear EP.  My bronze colour ribbon went very well with the ink so made a really nice finish to the card.

I really like making this clean & simple style card, & was very pleased with the end result of this one.

Thank you for visiting my little piece of Internet space I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Please leave a comment or just say hello & I hope you will visit again.
