Just chatting

As I am trying to make sure I blog more often & now that I seem to be on a roll I thought I would pop back just for a little chat.

After joining WOYWW this morning - & by the way thank you to those ladies who commented on my blog - it makes me so happy to receive your comments - I too popped in & peeked at a few desks & left comments.  I sometimes feel so guilty about the state of my desk & try to tidy up - but now I don't - if your are constantly working on things the desk should never be tidy.  Well that is my excuse & I am sticking to it. A couple of ladies commented on my storage for my Promarkers - I had only just found them at a local craft shop - I haven't yet worked out where they are going to sit in my room but they are great for carrying the PM's around.  I have 5 in total - only 2 were on my desk.  I have been careful to put colours together so that they are easier to find.  Well they will be when I put some form of identification on each roll.  I just hope they are not an item that goes out of production as I buy more PM's.

As I mentioned in my full profile I run 3 rubber stamping clubs here in North Wales & I also have a club blog for the members.  Part of the blog is to wish a Happy Birthday to those members celebrating one.  I look to put something interesting in the post & have found several great animated images sites.  So this morning I revisited some of them & looked for some new ones to find new images for this year.  Also here in Wales it is St. Davids Day tomorrow (March 1) so I needed an image to celebrate with.  Isn't the Internet & Google wonderful - key in the right question or request & up comes just what you are looking for.  So by mid morning I had new images for birthday greetings, St Davids Day, St Patricks Day & ideas for other occasions too.

Then this afternoon was one of my treat myself days - a visit to the Chiropodist.  I always feel like I am walking on air when I come out of there.  Consequently not much - ok not any - crafting done today.  But tomorrow is another day.

Thank you for popping in - I hope to see you again.

WOYWW #143

Good morning!

Its that time of week for WOYWW (Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday).  This is the first time I have joined in this.  I discovered it last week although I had seen references to it on other blogs.  so last week I spent quite a bit of time visiting the various blogs & looking (looking! -  what am I talking about.  I was having a good nose).  If you want to find out more about this event pop over to The Stamping Ground, & have a good look around.  Julia will explain all about it for you.

Anyway - here is my desk this morning;

It's also a case of what is under my desk too.  This is the remnants of my work yesterday & possible plan for today.

The paperwork to the left is the pre-plan for a project I created yesterday for one of my clubs - then decided I would keep it with all those markings on it (which in the photo you cannot see) for a visual guide to the folding & making.  My Promarkers are on my desk because as is shown in the last photo I am going to complete one of those Promarker charts - so that I know what colours I do have.

To the right of the pens are the stamps I was using on a card - oops!! - at the weekend.  In fact the stamp is still on the acrylic block.  How lazy is that?  perhaps I meant to use it again.

There is the chart waiting to be filled in & a piece of paper with some ink pad colours on for me to try & match for a project.  I don't have the actual colours & I am a little reluctant to buy them as I already have a lot of ink pads that do not get used enough - so if I can match them I will.

There we go then - that is my desk this morning.  so I had better get on with the non-crafty jobs so that I can go back in there & do the things I have planned - or I might change my mind & do something else.  I'm not really sure, but I expect it will work out ok.

I am now off to link this post to The Stamping Ground.

Thank you for coming over & having a nose at my desk, as soon as I can I shall be having a good poke around as well.  'Bye for now.

    A quick tidy up

Hi everyoneJust popped in to say I have just tidied up my blog page, by creating 2 new pages - one to hold awards I have been given (2 to date!!) & the other for the challenge win badges I have been able to display.

I have also tidied up the logos of some of the blogs that I follow - that may become another page - I am still thinking  about that one.

Hope you like the cleaner look.

I have been given an Award

    Hi everyone

I have received an award from Deborah Frings of  "Deborah's Gems".    (Oops! had to pop back in & edit posting as I had forgotten to do the link to DeBorah's blog)

Thank you Deborah it really is very kind of you.  Now that I have the award there are several things I must do, they are -
    • Pass the award on to five other blogs that  have inspired me.  I shall look out my five blogs in a moment - they have to be blogs with less than 200 followers
    • Put a comment on their blogs so that they know.    I will do this when I have sorted the 5 blogs
    • Link back to the person who gave me the award & thank them.  I have done this above & I have also put a comment on Deborah's blog.
    • Post the award on my blog.  Which I have done in this post.  Pride of place at the top.
Right I am off to choose my five blogs & pass on the award.

    Thank you for stopping by.

Stamptacular Sunday challenge - Photo Inspiration

Hello! welcome to my little blog I hope you enjoy your visit.

I haven't entered a challenge with Stamptacular Sunday for quite a while - but this weeks photo inspiration caught my eye & I hope my imagination.  Here is the inspiration

    Aren't they beautiful?

So off to the craft room & a rummage for papers that will suit, & of course an image.  These are the things that I pulled out to start working with.

Now that I am looking at the inspiration photo & my choice of papers close together, I think I might have kept a more lilac image in my mind eye - is it actually blue?  I am not too sure.  Never mind, here is my card

The squares of card & the base card are from my stash.  The little ballerina is one of a large set of stamps that came free with a magazine.  Her dress & the bouquet are coloured with Amethyst & Canary  Promarkers, with just a little pale green for leaves.  Her hair is a light touch of Buttercup. The ribbon was some narrow white satin ribbon I have a reel of, coloured with the Amethyst & Canary in blocks.  A final touch was some lilac flat back gems to go on the yellow card I then found some clear crystal flat back gems & coloured them with the Canary Promarker to go on the lilac card.

I hope you like my little card.  Thank you for stopping by - please call again.

Less is More Challenge - "Don't scrap it"

Hello everyone - I hope you are having a great weekend & that the weather where you are is good.

The challenge this week over at Less Is More is "Don't scrap it".  Now! there is a challenge - who hasn't got loads of scraps.  But I think for me the challenge was - which scraps.  Here is the result of my decision

and here is the "scrap" that I went through to see what I would use

After some good searching & trying things together I reduced it to this

I used to do quite a bit of quilling & was surprised to see the little rose in the box not yet used.  It seemed to go quite well with the coloured card.  That card is one piece of a selection that I had created some time ago on a "play day" with Caroline.  We were using different inks & those tools with either a white or black shaped head on a double ended black handle. The black head could be heated to impress things into it.  It's no good I am going to have to pop off & get their correct name I won't be long ............ Colour Box Stylus System from Clearsnap.

Having done some searching through the box & definitely being in a less is more state of mind I made one more card as I just had to use that pink aperture card.  It was a scrap item, as at some time or other I had used the third that usually folds behind the aperture.  I went to a box where I keep topper material for quick cards & found a lovely little spray of pink flowers.  Here is the card

The little "smudge" to the side of the sentiment is actually a little bird with a flourish style tail - but it is covering an actual smudge.  I broke the cardinal rule of stamping - always make sure there is no ink on the rubber surrounding the image, & if there is - wipe it off.  No! I stamped it straight down & potentially a spoilt card, but by stamping the bird in same colour as the sentiment the card is saved.  Phew!

Now to search amongst some cd papers that I have in a box & enter the challenge over at CD Sunday.

Thank you for stopping by I look forward to your next visit.

    just chatting

    Good evening everyone
I am just dropping in to welcome Maureen as a new follower.  Thank you also Maureen for your kind comments on my recent cards.

It is so encouraging when lovely comments are left by ladies who have blogs that show some really incredible work.

Last night I tried to visit as many of the WOYWW links as possible & also those other ladies who have entered the challenges on CD Sunday & Less is More. Ooh how I wish I had more time for that part of all this wonderful craft world.  So! if I didn't manage to get to you & leave a message I am sorry - perhaps next time.

Now I am off to write a post for my club blog - or they will wonder where I have got to.

Thank you for popping in - I look forward to seeing you again.

Living up to my blog title

Hello again ladies I am popping back to show some stamping I have done this afternoon.  The first card is the one that lives up to the title of the blog -

This is one of my favourite images which I think I got from The Stamp Man.  It has been stamped in black on white card then the card coloured with Distress Inks.  I started with Wild Honey, then Fired Brick followed by a light covering of Rusty Hinge.  I made a ribbon strip to match from white card.  Both pieces layered onto black card & then adhered onto a white base card.

Keeping a little cleaner I converted some badly stamped images I had stamped a few weeks back into a couple of CAS cards.  The badly stamped images first

They should be viewed landscape.  As you can see I tried to put the image on the card twice but didn't do at all well with the second image.  So out came the Promarkers, some colour added, then the image cut out & adhered to a base card.  I then found an appropriate coloured ink pad for the sentiment/  Here are the two cards.

    Very happy with those.

Thank you dropping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Less is More Challenge - Punches & Dies

Good morning everyone & what a lovely morning.  Some blue skies & sunshine - well it is here in North Wales.

Today I have joined in the challenge over at Less Is More where the theme is using your punches and/or dies.  I don't have loads of either but those I do have do not get used enough so what direction was I going to take. As I was sat at my desk trying to decide  there in front of me on the window sill was my little Sizzix Sidekick & also a couple of Ferrero Roche (gosh have I spelt that right!) acrylic boxes that used to hold about 4 chocolates but now contained some small thin dies.  I think they were probably the first ones I bought after getting the sidekick as a pressie.  On the top was a really pretty corner die.

When I am stamping I really enjoy using Barbara Gray's corner stamps so I thought perhaps that's the way I should go for this challenge.  Here is the result

The sentiment was actually stamped in Versafine ink in a plum colour but here it looks black.  I was very tempted to colour the edges of the card but stood back & left it how it is.  The tricky part was gluing the corner pieces down & keeping the shape.  I think I have got it square.  I was really happy with the finish & I can see some more cards being made this way.  So thank you Chrissie & Mandi at Less is More for opening up my creative mind.

I nearly joined in yesterday WOYWW but didn't have enough time - but the next post I will show you just what was on my desk for fun.

Thank you for stopping by.  Please leave a comment so I know you have looked in they are always so nice to receive.

CD Sunday challenge - Wings & Legs

    Good afternoon everyone

This weekend I decided I had to take part in a challenge before many weeks went by again - 10 days is bad enough.  I check every week for what the various challenges are on different blogs & intend to join in, then before I know where I am the final minutes are ticking away & I have missed it.

So here I am with my entry for this weeks challenge for "Wings & Legs" over at CD Sunday Challenge.

I thought that quite a lot of fairies would appear & butterflies & so I had to take a hard long look at my CD's to see what was a little different.  I turned to MCS for inspiration & found the Image & layering blocks on The Magic of Christmas (Traditional 1), & the background paper, border under the ribbon & tag for sentiment on Winter Wonderland - Set 2.

I wrapped the base card in the background paper, then glued the ends of the ribbon behind the border strip & tied a faux bow in it.   The sentiment is a silver on clear peel-off.

I know Christmas is over but I had decided I would start making this years somewhat earlier than usual, so this one just happened.  So one down & oh so many more to go.

Thank you CD Sunday for a great challenge - I am now off to upload my card & take a peek at what everyone else has made.

Thank you for dropping in please call again.

Goodness - another 10 days without chatting

    Hi everyone
    Goodness the days just fly past.  I haven't done any stamping for quite a few days now - but have been busy with my god-daughters wedding cake.  Today I have put their marzipan coats on so for about 2 to 3 weeks there is a rest from the actual cakes - when it will be time to ice them.  In the meantime I am waiting to her my god-daughters decision on the flowers she wants on the cake. She is having one layer as a sponge or madeira cake - so that one doesn't get made until closer to the day.  I am currently looking out recipes for that one.  Here is a photo of the work so far;

The reason for the odd shaped large cake is that the sponge tier will be stood on supports in that gap. The small cake came from that space.  The small fruit cake is not going to be on display it is just for the extra portions.

Earlier today I took a look at this weeks challenge over at Less is More & I think I might join in that one & get card making again.

Next week I have a scrap booking workshop - so must go & get myself organised by sorting my notes & looking out papers, embellishments etc for the ladies to use, including some different scrap book styles.  I also need to have a setup page for construction to help explain.  I am looking forward to it.

Thank you for popping in to see what I am up to - hope you enjoyed your visit.

Oh dear - a week without chatting

Hello everyoneI thought I had better pop in here quickly & say hello seeing as I haven't been around for a week.

That isn't strictly true of course - I have been busy - the stamp clubs I run have started back after the Christmas break in the last couple of weeks & so I have been busy getting things organised for their programme. I also decided to change the design of their blog as well as my own.

Now, I am busy making a wedding cake as my god-daughter is getting married in April so this will take some of my time.  I might even share my progress with you - even though it isn't stamping it is still a craft.

So in the coming weeks I hope to get back into entering some blog challenges & there is of course the need for birthday cards to be made.

Before I go I must correct an admission - I have another follower - Crafty Bren.  Thank you for joining my little band of followers Bren I hope you enjoy your visits.
